About R.E.M.: Bill Berry (drums), and Mike Mills (bass guitar), met in high school. Later joined Peter Buck (guitar) and Michael Stipe (vocals). In 1981 they decided to found a rock band. The Rapid Eye Movement has gradually become the number one cult band in the United States. After finishing their studies, R.E.M. released their first single called Radio Free Europe / Sitting Still, on their own money. The IRS was satisfied with the disc and signed a contract with them. R.E.M. became a popular band in the United States in the middle of the eighties. In ’88 R.E.M. has been voted for the best American band. R.E.M. made history with their music, we have to carry on their legacy by playing their songs. Stay with the Easy Guitar Tabs blog, there will be more famous artists on the site!

G                                         C
That's great, it starts with an earthquake
                                  G                                              C

Birds and snakes, an aeroplane, and Lenny Bruce is not afraid
G
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn
C

World serves its own needs, don't misserve your own needs

G  C  G  C...

Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the Furies breathing down your neck
Team by team, reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped
Look at that low plane, fine, then
Uh-oh, overflow, population, common group
But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself
World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed
Tell me with the Rapture and the reverent in the right, right
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam fight, bright light
Feeling pretty psyched
             G                D                 Am
It's the end of the world as we know it

G  C  G  C...
Six o'clock, TV hour, don't get caught in foreign tower
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn
Lock him in uniform, book burning, bloodletting
Every motive escalate, automotive incinerate
Light a candle, light a motive, step down, step down
Watch your heel crush, crush, uh-oh
This means no fear, cavalier, renegade and steering clear
A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives, and I decline
