Easy Guitar Tabs: Lynyrd Skynyrd

E-book

Magic Chords - Learn to play the guitar in 50 days

Guitar Book: detailed description

The Easy Guitar Tabs’ blog is bringing you the Lynyrd Skynyrd rock band, and it’s famous hits. You can learn four easy guitar tabs from the band. The Lynyrd Skynyrd rock band was founded in 1964, in Jacksonville, Florida. Lynyrd Skynyrd was formed by schoolmates,  the troop was named after their unpopular gym teacher (Leonard Skinner). A pronunciation guide was presented to us by the first album’s title: „Pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd”. The original Lynyrd Skynyrd members: Ronnie Van Zant – vocals; Gary Rossington – guitar; Allen Collins – guitar; Leon Wilkeson – bass guitar; Bob Burns – drums. Later joined: Steve Gaines - guitar, Cassie Gaines – vocals. It took five years for them to release their first album, however, this has made them famous immediately.

The band was struck by a fatal tragedy on 20 October 1977, when their plane crashed in Mississippi marsh. Six people lost their lives: Ronnie Van Zant singer, Steve Gaines guitarist, his sister Cassie Gaines, their road manager, an assistant and the two pilots. The rest of the band survived the tagedy. After ten years, in 1987 Lynyrd Skynyrd took the stage again, with the help of Ronnie Van Zant’s younger brother. They toured several times in subsequent years. From the original band only Powell and Rossington remained. Please give Easy Guitar Tabs a big LIKE, if you were satisfied with it. Also share our easy guitar tabs with your friends. Thank You.

          D
I was cutting the rug
                  D
Down at a place called The Jug
            A
With a girl named Linda Lou
          D
When in walked a man
            D
With a gun in his hand
                   E                             A
And he was looking for you know who.
               D
He said, Hey there fellow,
               D
With the hair colored yellow,
G                        E
Watcha tryin' to prove?
E
'Cause that's my woman there
D
And I'm a man who cares
               A                    D
And this might be all for you.  (I said excuse me!)
D  A  D...
I was scared and fearing for my life.
I was shakin' like a leaf on a tree.
'Cause he was lean, mean,
Big and bad, Lord,
Pointin' that gun at me.
I said, "Wait a minute, mister,
I didn't even kiss her.
Don't want no trouble with you.
And I know you don't owe me
But I wish you'd let me
Ask one favor from you."
                       D
Won't you gimme three steps,
                 D
Gimme three steps mister,
                 A
Gimme three steps towards the door?
D
Gimme three steps
                D
Gimme three steps mister,
                     A                         D
And you'll never see me no more.
D  A  D...
Well the crowd cleared away
And I began to pray
As the water fell on the floor.
And I'm telling you son,
Well, it ain't no fun
Staring straight down a forty-four.
Well he turned and screamed at Linda Lu
And that's the break I was looking for.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away
As I was headed out towards the door.
D  A  D...
Won't you gimme three steps,
Gimme three steps mister,
Gimme three steps towards the door?
Gimme three steps
Gimme three steps mister,
And you'll never see me no more.
